Anti Japanese Protest and How China Otaku felt

We have heard of recent news all about the rising tension between China and Japan. It seems to be that both of them are ready to go to war, if you have follow the latest happening in China. You should now by now, riot and looting of Japanese business and destroying or setting fire upon anything they see as Japanese. In fact, some foreign news media had reported of Japanese who are currently in China are scared to go out of their house.
But what you don’t know is how china otaku felt about this protest and how it had affected them. We managed to have a chat via Google Plus with several of our Chinese readers in China. Almost all agree that the protest is wrong, but some of their stand on the island issue seems to be quite different from each other.
When we asked all of our readers who named will remain anonymous on how they feel when this incident happen. Almost all agreed that it doesn’t affect them in anyway. We then proceed to ask them about how they feel about the anti-Japanese protest ongoing in China. Many felt that the illegal protest is wrong in many ways and find them crazy to break every Japanese products. Some felt that the protest should be a peaceful one.
We continue to ask them whether they felt that the island should belong to Japan or China. There is seems to be some mixed reaction. One of them told us that he remain neutral or indifferent on this problem. While another felt that that island belong to China. While others decline to answer this question.
When we asked them how both nation could solve this issue peacefully, one felt that is is difficult but hope that it will happen. Some hope that the situation will not escalate to war as all agree that war is terrible.
In fact, we did ask a Taiwanese exactly the same question. He thinks that the island belong to both China and Taiwan and he felt that the Japanese government is a fool has it affect the Japanese companies in China. But he felt that this issue can resolve peacefully and hope that it does not cause a military conflict.
But there is one thing all these otaku have in common. No matter what happened in their country be it whether it is anti Japanese protest or not. None of these will ever affect their love for anime.
Not to mention, almost if not all of the anime merchandise are made in china. So it could be bad news for Otaku if they ever shut down their factories in China.
Whether or not this issue will solve peacefully, all depends on how both government could come together and find a solution to it. But given the current aggressiveness of the Beijing government. It is quite difficult.
