Sakura Doujin

Quick synopsis: Himenokouji twins Akito and Akiko have finally reunited with each other after separation due to the death of their parents. After six years of living apart they suddenly began to live under the same roof due to Akito’s desire to live as a family unit once more. Things were fine at first until Akiko began to express her incestuous love for her older brother, who only sees her as a little sister.

Personal thoughts: It seems to me that there has been a lot of Brother X Sister love anime this year. But among all of them, this anime probably was the best so far. Personally, I kinda like how the story goes with not just his sister, but the entire student council members in the anime. Its funny, ecchi and romantic (sort of).

The Review:

Storyline & Plot: 7.5/10
Love it. Those are the two words that would sum up my opinion on the storyline. Unlike other Brother X Sister anime, this anime has a different twist. By adding competition between outsiders and the sister, it makes it all look fun to see them fooling around each other. Yes, it might looked like a typical Harem anime. But at least, it is has comedy. But I don’t like the fact that the show revealing to us at the end of the episode where his sister isn’t actually his real sister is quite anti-climax.

Art & Character Design: 8.5/10
The art and the character design looks great in all of the episode of this anime. It is drawn in accuracy of the light novel illustration. Also, I am quite satisfied with the quality of the animation. I think 7 out of 10 is a reasonable score, given the fact that they have throw some fan service into this show for us. And the way they censor it, makes it like it isn’t censor at all.

Entertainment & Execution: 8/10
It is funny, therefore it is entertaining to me. I quite enjoyed scenes of his sister trying her very best to make his brother fall in love with her. There are also other characters who make this show entertaining too. For example, the girl who is rich, but can’t do anything on her own. The girl who like to bully or rather domination over a guy. The girl who can do household work and cook. All of them putting it together into a show, give us some form of entertainment. With characters of different background and personality, trying to blend in together in their daily life.

Music: 6.5/10
I love the OP of the song titled “Self-Producer” and also the Opening credits are kinda funny and sexually misleading. But the ED of the title is somewhat average.

Overall: 8/10
To be honest, I thought it would be a typical ecchi anime that will appear once in a while and think that the story and the plot will sucks bad. But no, I kinda like it and I am hoping for a season 2. Although that might be very unlikely. But nonetheless, even if there is no season 2. I still can try to read the light novel. If you are that kind of person who like ecchi with comedy, then this anime is for you. But if you are that kind of person who like deep storyline and plot with ecchi and a bit of comedy, then Highschool DxD is the anime for you.
