Sony’s Vice President Hinting PlayStation 4 to be out Soon

ps3In an interview with Chilean Web site Emol, vice president of Sony Hiroshi Sakamoto, has hinted that the next generation PlayStation 4 will be out soon by this year. He also indicate that the PlayStation 4 will be ready to show off at 2013′s Electronic Entertainment Expo or maybe even sooner.

He also mention that there might be a big announcement about the new PlayStation, but for now it will remain a secret. Even though the new PlayStation were to show in CES, it is very unlikely that consumer will get on their hands that fast. The new PlayStation will be a rival between the next yet to be built generation of Xbox over who will be the most affordable.

Rumors have been spreading, saying that the new PlayStation specs will be very disappointing as they are not cutting edge technology. This isn’t really a good idea, given the fact that new console companies and other old ones are catching up. But since there are going to be a big announcement, we assume this announcement will surprise us. Until then, we keep our hope held high.

  • All I ask from Sony for the next PlayStation is that Sony supports: PSone, PS2 (wish), and PS3 backwards compatibility; 4K-8K BD playback; faster read speed for BD/DVD/CD combo drive; 802.11n/ac/ad WiFi; same (if not, improved) DualShock4 (with built-in, longer lasting battery pack); USB 3.0 (maybe add 4 ports?); and the same option to manually upgrade the internal 2.5″ Hard Drive (if it still exists in the next PlayStation). If so, include a 80GB SSD for the OS (then use the 2.5″ Hard Drive as storage) if possible.

    Too much to ask? :p
